Welcome to Buffalo Trail Council's Explorer Post 389, located in Midland, TX. This group of outstanding young adults, ages fourteen to twenty, are involved in the largest
dissater relief organization in the nation. They train in all aspects of Red Cross including Disaster, Health & Safety, Public Relations and Administration. Each youth has the opportunity to respond to local disasters and make their mark for generation

Health & Safety Fairs and disaster preparedness fairs. In the future we intend to provide a Basic Aid Training program available to elementary schools throughout Midland. All
activities are planned, arranged, and presented by the youth. The Explorer program is run by the post officers, with input from the members. To join this organization you must be fourteen years old and completed the eighth grade. Regestration will
be $8.90 for insurance through Boy Scouts of America. The program is for both males and females. After we get members we will set the meetings to be on the first and third Tuesdays of every month. Additional activities include camping, trips to other
chapters of Red Cross, and training in Red Cross classes. Major activities to be planned include a trip to Dallas to go to Six Flags and do an activity with the Dallas Chapter Youth Departent, for this summer. In the future we would like to host a State
Youth Conference followed by a National Youth Cnference. For any questions contact Shane Bell at American Red Cross of Southwest Texas, Midland office, 915-684-6161 or 1-800-738-6614. |
